Too Kawaii to Die Issue #1 is finally out!
It’s 32 pages of kawaii meets horrible, creepy, and weird by a bunch of talented comixpeople and you can get it for free here. You downloading it yet? Good, now there’s more:
But wait! I want to pay the artists/to buy a physical copy!
Well awesome! There are a few ways you can do either of these.
First, if you want to donate to all the artists you can go ahead and donate via paypal here. This will be split evenly among all contributors.
Next if you want a physical copy they’re available on Indy Planet. In 80 years this could be worth a billion dollars! Or nothing! Either way, they look awesome in print and we’d love for you to have this on your bookshelf, waiting for you to sleep.
If you want to donate to an individual artist, or buy a comic directly from them (for example with a custom doodle in the specially tailored doodle zone inside, or with bonus treats and prizes) then you can look at the contributor contact list at the bottom of this post, and it will be marked if any have these options availible.
Note: There probably wont be many of these just yet but this post will be updated and any changes will be promoted.
Is there going to be an Issue 2? Can I contribute?
Yes and yes! If you’re interested please send me a message with relevant contact information to emxokultra@gmail.com or my tumblr. Don’t do it via Tumblr comments though because those tend to disappear for no reason.
I’ll be compiling a basic call for submissions in the next few days, I’ll send it to everyone who expressed interest as well as post it around and you’ll all know what the deal is.
So don’t be shy! If this looks like something you want to be a part of, or you know someone who would be perfect for, you might as well hit me up!

(Warning: TEXTWALL OF DEATH AHEAD)
I feel like this requires some explanation because I can’t fit the whole thing on a 500x500 image. So first off, I’ll be the first to admit this partly stems from jealously. I realized it a long time ago, but knowing it’s envy doesn’t make the emotion go away.
It’s been just me and my mother after my dad and brother passed away when I was a kid, and recently, we’ve been going through tough times financially. I feel like I can’t talk to my friends about it because any time I do, their advice is “just ask your mom for money.” Not everyone can go ask mommy and daddy for $2,000. My mother works 2 jobs just to pay the bills; she can’t afford to pay my way through college, too. I’ve been too embarrassed to tell them the worst of it- that we were on food stamps last year and we had to sell some of our things just to pay rent one month- because some of them have made it clear they think poor people (i.e., me) are just lazy or communists who want free health care.
Basically, I need every penny I can get, whether that’s working in retail or freelance illustration. Most of my friends just do commissions because they want the extra spending cash, though. They go to their parents for big money, like tuition or rent, and use their commission money to buy anime figurines and manga. All of them have a pretty big following, too; so when they open for commissions, they can get 50-100 replies back.
It drives me up a wall when they take on 20 commissions at a time and then complain about how much work they have to do. Sometimes I want to say “yes, you have to actually work for that money; those people didn’t give you cash for the fuck of it!” Top it off with the fact a few of them treat their commissioners like shit; they’ll spend more time on personal pictures than their commissions, take on more commissions when they’re nowhere near finished with the ones they have (because they want the money), or insults commissioners when they ask about the status on their work.
It pisses me off so much, not just because I’m broke and need the money, but because they have the opportunity to make that money and they’re abusing it. I don’t get as many commissions as they do, but I’ve learned from them to be a lot more professional when I do get work.
